Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia
نویسنده
چکیده
Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) represents 15 % of acute myeloid leukaemia. Prior to tretinoin usage, the treatment of APL was difficult and remission rates were low especially in developing countries due to mortality resulting primarily from bleeding'. APL is associated with a coagulopathy which may be due to a combination of disseminated intravascular coagulation and primary fibrinolysis. Tretinoin usage is able to limit this complication and is now the standard induction for API. Experience with tretinoin (all trans retinoic acid, ATRA) has been limited because of the relative rarity of APL in pregnancy. We report its use in pregnancy and review the current literature.

Acute promyelocytic leukaemia with a novel translocation t(16;17)(q12;p13): a case report.
Acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APML) is characterised by the t(15;17)(q22;q21), that results in the fusion of the promyelocytic leukaemia (PML) gene at 15q22 with the retinoic acid α-receptor (RARA) gene at 17q21. The current case report describes a 13-year-old male with APML, who was negative for PML/RARA fusion signal but reported to have an atypical translocation t(16;17). To the best of our...

INTRODUCTION Acute promyelocytic leukaemia, an uncommon and devastating subtype of leukaemia, is highly prevalent in Latin American populations. The disease may be detected by a dentist since oral signs are often the initial manifestation. However, despite several cases describing oral manifestations of acute promyelocytic leukaemia and genetic analysis, reports of acute promyelocytic leukaemia...
متن کاملAcute Myeloid Leukaemia of Donor Cell Origin Developing 17 Years after Allogenic Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation for Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia
Donor cell leukaemia (DCL) is a rare complication of allogenic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). We report the case of a female patient with acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APL), FAB type M3, who developed acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) type M5 of donor origin 17 years after allogenic bone marrow transplantation (BMT) from her HLA-matched sister. Morphology and immunophenotyping showed di...
متن کاملAcute promyelocytic leukaemia and Hodgkin's disease in the same patient.
Acute non-lymphocytic leukaemia is a well recognised and increasingly reported complication of treated Hodgkin's disease. The prognosis is generally poor with a disappointing response to chemotherapy. A patient in whom myelodysplastic features appeared after treatment for Hodgkin's disease, to be followed shortly afterwards by acute promyelocytic leukaemia, is reported. Complete remission was a...
متن کاملRecent advances in acute promyelocytic leukaemia
Acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APML) is a subtype of leukaemia arising from a distinct reciprocal translocation involving chromosomes 15 and 17, which results in the PML-RARA fusion gene. Over the past three decades, APML has been transformed from a highly fatal disease to a highly curable one. This drastic improvement is because of the introduction of a new treatment strategy with all-trans re...
